The 41-year-old man, Ek, admitted to the theft and explained that he needed the drillbits and the skincare items for personal use. Additionally, the father also wanted to send the toys to his child, who lives in Buriram province.

He added that he felt bad for his child and wanted him to have toys to play with, as the child had lost his mother.

He also confessed to committing theft on three separate occasions, according to Thai news media PPTV.

Detained by head of village & arrested by police

The head of the community, Mr Channarong Rawongpan (name transliterated from Thai), said he was notified of the theft by a witness.

He then arrived at the store and found Ek with the stolen items tucked in his pants, prompting him to detain him.
