A spectacular and surreal cloud formation resembling a “fire dragon” recently appeared above Mount Fuji, leaving visitors in awe.
On the evening of 27 Nov, a stunning scene unfolded as the setting sun cast a warm glow on the clouds, which took on the shape of a dragon soaring above the iconic mountain.
The awe-inspiring sight was captured by many who watched from a distance, snapping photos and videos to share across social media.
One particularly viral video of the phenomenon has garnered more than 10,000 retweets and 3.9 million views on X.
To prevent the spectacle from being mistaken for AI-generated images, some deliberately captured the scene from various angles, ensuring it was clear that the cloud formation was a natural phenomenon, not a computer-generated illusion.
Many netizens expressed their hopes for positive changes in the coming year, believing the dragon-shaped cloud symbolised 2024, the Year of the Dragon.
Additionally, some netizens couldn’t help but draw parallels to the iconic Japanese anime ‘Dragon Ball’.
They joked that someone had gathered all seven Dragon Balls and summoned the dragon Shenron.
Others pointed out the resemblance to Hokusai’s famous “Dragon Rising Above Fuji” painting from the Edo period.
