A firefighter was injured while fighting a fire that broke out in a condominium in Geylang, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said.
In a Facebook post on Monday (29 July), SCDF said the fire broke out that morning at 3.30am.
It raged at 37 Lorong 20 Geylang — the address of the Sunflower Regency condo.
Firefighters from three fire stations — Kallang Fire Station, Paya Lebar Fire Station, and Central Fire Station — responded to the blaze, which came from a unit on the fifth floor.
When they arrived, firefighters found two people standing precariously on the window ledge of the affected unit, shouting for help.
A Combined Platform Ladder was deployed to rescue them.
Inside the unit, a third person was found in one of the bedrooms and was brought out to safety.
Two of the rescued individuals were conveyed to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) while the third person was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital.
As for the fire, it was extinguished using a water jet, SCDF said.
While the fire involved the living room, the rest of the unit sustained heat and smoke damage.
Its cause is under investigation.
Unfortunately, a firefighter was injured during the firefighting operation, SCDF said.
He sustained the minor injury when a piece of false ceiling landed on his neck and shoulder area.
After a paramedic assessed him, he was conveyed to TTSH as a precautionary measure.
