Some burger fans in Singapore may still be in disbelief over Shake Shack’s new outlet at Jewel Changi.
But 2019 should rightfully be crowned the year of burgers – at least for Singapore fans – because the burger race is about to heat up with this potential new player.
According to 8 Days, Five Guys, another famous burger chain from the US, is rumoured to be opening its first outlet here in Singapore.
8 Days reported that the American burger chain is making plans to open its first outlet in Singapore by the last quarter of 2019.
In addition to their Singapore outlet, Five Guys is also rumoured to be opening another outlet in Malaysia.

These will be Five Guys’ second and third outlets in Asia. They opened their first Asian outlet in Hong Kong last November.
For the uninitiated, Five Guys is a traditional all-American style diner, famous for generous portions, thick shakes, and rustic burgers with no-frills.
Portions are also huge and inexpensive.
The burger reportedly has a cult following among burger lovers. Even former US President Barrack Obama’s a fan of the burger chain and was caught visiting one of their outlets back in 2009.
While Five Guys hasn’t made an official announcement about their entry into our market, we certainly hope the rumours are true.
After all, we’ll have yet another famous burger chain to look forward to in Singapore. Only, we’ll probably have to put our diets on hold.
We’ve reached out to Five Guys to verify if these rumours are true, and will update this article once they’ve replied so do stay tuned.
