According to Berita Harian, the 4-day closure notice was also featured on the National Environment Agency (NEA) website.
The notice lists a schedule of cleanup work for food centres and markets throughout Singapore.
NEA says that these cleaning works are carried out to ensure cleanliness of food centres and markets, as these establishments are an important part of Singaporean life.

Meanwhile, this user is simply grateful for the cleaning. The comment in Malay reads as, “It’s good to clean the market, even a new market will be dirty with no maintenance.”
Geylang Serai Market is famous for offering a rich variety of affordable Malay cuisine.
As with every other famous establishment in the nation, maintenance is key to ensure cleanliness and customers’ comfort.
