Another viral clash over an attempt to ‘chope’ a parking spot erupted in Geylang on Wesnesday (27 Aug) at around 6.56pm.
Dashcam footage shared on social media shows the driver trying to park outside a claypot restaurant at 1 Lorong 39 Geylang.
However, a woman in a dark blue shirt was also standing in the middle of the parking spot, with her son waiting nearby.

She gestured downwards, signalling she was reserving the space for another vehicle.
The driver, however, did not move and honked continuously for about 50 seconds.
Throughout this, the woman just shot glares at him and made a call during the standoff.

Eventually, she stepped onto the footpath, allowing the car to park.
The driver later claimed that she had been scolding his mother, prompting him to confront her.

“I have told you that I’m standing here and my car is nearly here. Can I not do that?” she told the driver.

The woman grew annoyed at being filmed and instructed her son to record the driver in retaliation.

“You finish recording already?” her son asked, but the driver was, in fact, not done filming.
The woman then told her son to call the police and demanded the video be deleted.
“You are not allowed to film me, okay? Delete the video now,” she said.
After some time, the woman’s husband arrived and angrily accusing the driver of “[bullying] small kids and women” and violating their privacy.

The driver claimed that police later arrived and sided with him, though no evidence of this appeared in the footage.
Many online users criticised the woman for trying to chope a parking spot.

One commenter joked that the family should have used a tissue packet to reserve the space instead.

Others argued that the driver overreacted by honking for so long and suggested he could have resolved the situation by talking to her.
