Grab Glitch Lowers All Fares To $6 For 30 Minutes

Grab Glitch

If you had to Grab somewhere on Thursday (25 Oct), you were probably very, very lucky.

That’s because the ride-hailing app reportedly faced a technical glitch, plunging all fares to $6.

Don’t believe us? Take a look at this insane journey from Pasir Ris Street 52 to Singapore Sports Hub for $6.

But the problem seemed to have been resolved by 4.30pm on Thursday. When MS News tried to book that same ride, the fare had risen to a more realistic $13.

And this trip from Choa Chu Kang to the airport cost just $6 as well.

The influx of bookings meant that many people could not get a ride and make the most of the crazy low prices.

But those who did were understandably thrilled.

Glitch in fare computation

Responding to queries from MS News, a Grab spokesperson confirmed that there was a glitch in the computation of fares in the Grab app.

For affected passengers, “Grab will honour fares for all rides completed during this time.”

Grab will also promise affected driver-partners the following:

  • compensation for those who have taken bookings with lower fares than usual
  • allocation rate and cancellation rate will be kept at the same level as before the glitch period

Grab is working to fix the problem as soon as possible and apologises for the inconvenience caused.
