A TikTok video showing a GrabFood rider’s unusual sunburn patterns has gone viral, sparking both amusement and concern among netizens and even prompting a sunscreen brand to step in with support.
In the video posted by TikTok user Lisa, her father, a GrabFood rider, reveals intense sunburns after long hours in the sun, particular on his legs and feet.
Shared last Friday (1 Nov), Lisa’s video begins with her father standing near the door of their apartment.
As he closes the gate, he pulls up his shorts to examine the contrast between his upper and lower legs.
“Oh my god!” reacts Lisa, after she sees the distinct difference between her father’s sunburned legs and his fairer upper thighs.
Later, Lisa’s father brings in a pair of Crocs slippers — presumably those he wore while delivering food.
Upon zooming in, Lisa discovers brown ‘dots’ on her father’s feet, which match the holes on his Crocs slippers.
“I become tattoo, you see,” said Lisa’s father, pointing to his feet.
Seeing the extent of her father’s sunburn, Lisa advises him to apply sunscreen whenever he goes out to work.
She even shows him how to apply the product — which he playfully disregards.
Speaking to MS News, Lisa explained that her 61-year-old father has been working as a GrabFood rider for two years.
Even though she knew about his “jarring tan lines”, she hadn’t realised the extent of his sunburns, particularly as he usually wears long sleeves while working.
Lisa added that her father starts work at 8am and would only end work at sometime between 6pm and 8pm.
Since seeing the burns, she has been encouraging him to use sunscreen and take supplements to prevent further UV damage.
As for the Croc slippers that left ‘dots’ on her father’s feet, Lisa noted that he has been wearing them for “a few months”.
Lisa’s video has garnered about 150,000 views at the time of writing and even reached the eyes of the folks at Anessa — a skincare company based in Singapore.
Anessa has since reached out to Lisa to offer sunscreen products to her father.
