A girl’s hair was caught on a metal rod of a Ferris wheel while enjoying the ride at a fair in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, India, on Saturday (9 Nov).
As a result, 13-year-old Anuradha Katheria’s hair was completely ripped off.
According to Indian news outlet Amar Ujala, the girl’s hair got stuck on the rod after she sat on the ride, and her hair and scalp were ripped off before she even knew it.
When she began shouting, the operator stopped the ride while bystanders rushed to help her.
In a video of the horrific accident’s aftermath circulating social media, the girl is seen being assisted by two men.
Her entire hair is entangled on the metal rod of the ride just above her seat, having been ripped off her scalp. Blood was also trickling from her wound.
The girl then appeared to lose consciousness, falling to her knees.
After receiving news from other residents, Ms Anuradha’s family, with the help of the ride operator, took her to a nearby private hospital.
But as her condition worsened, she was transferred to a hospital in Lucknow.
Fortunately, Ms Anuraadha’s health has since improved, according to Hindustan Times.
Meanwhile, the police said they have filed a report against the Ferris wheel owner, on the complaint of the girl’s father.
Fairgoers have also reportedly stopped riding the Ferris wheel following the incident.
