‘High rise syndrome is preventable’: 5 companies in S’pore that’ll help you pet-proof your home

5 companies in Singapore that can help install pet-proof grilles

According to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (SPCA) 2025 Animal Cruelty & Welfare Report, 2024 and 2025 saw 222 reported cases of high rise syndrome — pets falling from heights due to unsecured homes.

Among the cases reported to the SPCA, most involved owners who did not mesh their windows as they “usually kept their windows closed”.

In Singapore, there exist several companies that can help pet-proof your home and keep your pets secure, while allowing you and your pets to enjoy a fresh breeze.

Here are five options to choose from.

1. InnoStruct

InnoStruct provides installation services for invisible grilles, which the company describes as the “most invisible safety grille in the market”.

They offer grilles that have a super slim and invisible design, and are “cat friendly”.

Prices for installation range from S$440 to S$572, depending on the area of the house, such as the living room, bedrooms, or kitchen.

They provide free quotations, where pet owners can simply send them a picture of their windows.

4. Oneko

Oneko provides installation for retractable window meshes, with “auto retracing” to tuck the mesh neatly away when not in use.

These meshes will be custom made to your window size, for both sliding and casement windows.

High rise syndrome persists in Singapore: SPCA

“High rise syndrome is preventable in many cases,” said the SPCA, which revealed that that it remains the second-largest reason for reported cases of poor animal welfare.

“The SPCA considers it neglect if owners do not keep their pets safely indoors, resulting in them wandering out and falling from height.”

The organisation urged pet owners against a false sense of security, stating that in most cases of high rise syndrome, pets do not escape unscathed.

It added that “many lives can be saved simply by securing all the entryways to the house”, further noting that cats are the most common victims.

Using durable mesh or grilles that are closely spaced are among the ways to keep pets safe and comfortable indoors.
