Hornbills visit Toa Payoh resident’s home, they perch on window in compromising position

Hornbills caught in a compromising position at Toa Payoh HDB

A pair of oriental pied hornbills started a Toa Payoh resident’s week with a ‘bang’ on Monday (18 Nov) morning.

The lovebirds had perched on the HDB unit’s window in a rather compromising position.

“When I spotted them, they were side by side on my window,” said 50-year-old engineer Alex Goh.

“Then they proceeded with the greatest act of nature.”

Alex shared that the pair came at around 7am that day, noting that “they sounded like kids laughing” and occasionally like crows.

To his amazement, he saw the two unusual visitors perched atop his window where they stayed for five to ten minutes.

The pair then flew off, landing on lower-level neighbours’ bamboo poles for a while.

While the resident was lucky to have observed the feathered visitors, the surprise visit did disrupt his daily routine.

Not wanting to interrupt the lovebirds, Alex waited for them to fly away before closing his windows and leaving for work later than usual that day.

Netizens amused by compromising image

Alex had first shared an image of the birds on the ‘Singapore Wildlife Sightings’ Facebook group.

The scene had garnered amused comments from several wildlife enthusiasts.

One netizen rightly pointed out that the birds were doing more than just simply visiting his unit.

Another also highlighted that Alex was rather “lucky” to have witnessed the native hornbills with his own eyes.
