We’ve done your homework for you, if you’re on the hunt for an affordable capsule hotel with a beautiful aesthetic. Here’s what else to expect.

Teahouse zen pods

Hotel Zen Tokyo incorporates Japanese design principles through capsule rooms designed with traditional motifs. The interior is based on the country’s wabi-sabi philosophy which makes use of natural materials in a rustic style.

Like most capsule-type accommodations, there are different pod styles that guests can choose from.

The aoi or standard pod is fit for the solo traveller. It has a single-sized bed and surreal nature-inspired painting. The price you’ll fork out includes free Wi-Fi, clothes, hangers, towels and full amenities.

The fuji pod is slightly bigger with a western-style semi-double bed for two guests. The room’s ceilings are higher than most capsule hotels, so you won’t bump heads with bae.

Those who want to get into the spirit of the sakura season can go all-out and stay in the sakura pod which has a tatami. An extra small space for luggage including a safe will be included, along with the standard Wi-Fi privileges.

Want to medidate? Book the Tsubaki (Deluxe Pod) or Ran (Large Deluxe Pod) which have a comfy monochromatic aesthetic. You’ll also be able to appreciate the painting of Japan’s mountains in all its postcard-worthy glory.

Lounge & basement cafes

The basement cafe includes resources and books that serve as a gateway to Japanese music, art and culture. You can read up on events and pop-up exhibits happening near the area, whilst relishing the Japanese background music.
