A tragic incident in Prachinburi Province, Thailand, saw a jealous husband fatally stab his wife in front of their children before stabbing himself afterwards.
In a surprising twist, the man regained consciousness while authorities were investigating the scene.
On Wednesday (30 Oct), local police responded to a call regarding a fatal stabbing inside a townhouse.
Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old man and his 27-year-old wife lying in the kitchen, surrounded by blood, footprints and signs of struggle.
The man was found face down, holding his wife, with two blood-soaked kitchen knives, approximately five inches long, nearby.
According to Khaosod, officers had checked their pulses and determined both individuals to be dead.
While forensic officials were examining the scene and the bodies, they were startled to notice the man showing signs of life, moving his legs and face.
Upon assessing his condition, they realised he was still alive, with stab wounds under his left rib and neck.
Officers quickly rushed him to hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, his wife was found with multiple stab wounds and was taken to the hospital for further examination.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was fuelled by jealousy.
The couple, who had two daughters aged 10 and 7, reportedly purchased the townhouse a year ago.
The husband had allegedly grown suspicious of his wife after noticing messages between her and a female co-worker, leading to a heated confrontation on the night of the incident.
He then fatally stabbed his wife in front of their daughters.
Thai news outlet Honkrasae reported that, during the assault, the husband instructed their eldest daughter to contact her grandmother, informing her of the attack.
He also sent a message to his own mother before attempting suicide.
The husband’s mother expressed relief upon learning her son had survived, recalling her shock when her granddaughter first informed her of the incident.
She noted that while the family was aware of ongoing tensions over jealousy, they had believed the couple had reconciled.
A neighbour told Khaosod she heard a child crying for an extended period that night but was unaware of the situation unfolding.
Rescue workers on the scene described the husband’s unexpected revival as a gradual process, beginning as he slowly opened his eyes.
Authorities noted this was the first time they had encountered a presumed-dead individual regaining consciousness during an investigation.
