IKEA Bangna In Bangkok Sells Butterscotch Soft Serve, BBT & Cheese Fries Because They Hipster

IKEA Bangna In Bangkok Has Cotton Candy & Butterscotch Soft Serve For Just S$1.24 Per Cone

When IKEA outlets low-key converted all their vanilla soft-serve to a vegan-appropriate soy-milk based variant, Singaporeans were pretty mixed about the decision.

Since everything happens for a reason, we think this could be a pre-cursor to vegan-friendly flavours in the near future.

At least, that seems to be the direction of where IKEA Bangkok is heading — crazy millennial ice cream flavours in every colour of the rainbow imaginable.

Oh yes, they have BBT too. Brb, booking our one-way flight there now.

Butterscotch & Cotton Candy soft serve

From the looks of pictures flooding social media, IKEA Bangna outlet in Bangkok – located halfway between the airport and the city centre – is home to a brand new ice cream parlour.

The most iconic flavour Butterscotch & Cotton Candy is an aptly coloured yellow and blue swirl sitting pretty upon a cone, with an adorable little IKEA flag.

Locals share that it only costs S$1.24 (29 Baht) per cone. You’ll also get to select from an assortment of toppings if you so desire, from fresh fruits to crispy biscuits.

Think Llaollao, but for a fraction of the price. A vegan strawberry flavour is drawing the lines too.

BBT and iced cappuccinos

SHOUT.sg reports that a cup of bubble tea goes at just S$1.92 (45 baht).

The pictures also do tease at a full blown IKEA cafe with a functioning espresso machine, since Iced Cappuccinos are also on the menu for S$2.13 (50 baht).

Cheese fries bouquet

We also spotted a sinful looking cheese fries bouquet, generously topped with scallions.

No word on the price for this yet, but here’s the link to their full menu for a good estimate on the range. Regular fries costs only S$1.28 (30 baht), so we’d expect just a slight top-up to afford a heaping dollop of drizzled cheese.

How to get there

IKEA Bangna is within a 30-min taxi ride from Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

You’ll be looking for a mega mall named Mega Bangna which houses not only IKEA Bangna, but other familiar shops that Singaporeans will be dying to spend their remaining baht on the way home from a short Bangkok getaway.

From a whopping list of 450 shops, we picked out these highlights:

  • Big C Supermarket
  • Robinson
  • Ice Skating Rink
  • Bowling Alley

Check this detailed guide for more information about the Mega Bangna Shopping Mall.
