Local actor J.A Halim, 71, has passed away at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) on 7.45am.
On the morning of 11 Dec (Wed), the Suria actor, who’d won an award just this April for Best Actor in a Supporting Role on Suria’s awards show Pesta Perdana 2019, displayed symptoms of a stroke during a meeting.
Those present immediately rushed him to hospital, where the doctor diagnosed him with a stroke in the right side of the brain, according to Berita Harian today (13 Dec).
J.A Halim subsequently fell into a coma on 12 Dec (Thur), and his daughter Nina Halim posted on Instagram that he had gone into critical condition.
She also informed the public that he would be transferred to a general ward for comfort, before he finally breathed his last today.
His daughter-in-law Fizah Nizam also posted a series of Instagram stories explaining that his condition was deteriorating.
They concluded with the above picture of J.A Halim on his hospital bed, with the Arabic quote, “To God we belong, and to Him we shall return”, confirming his passing.
His son Helmi has yet to post anything on his social media.
J.A Halim, whose real name was Ab Khalim Jamaludin, left behind a vast legacy spanning 50 years of acting. His passing today is undoubtedly a huge loss to the industry.
His wife, son and daughter-in-law, are all actors and actresses.
In 2017, he starred together with Taufik Batisah and Adlina Adil in the movie Gunting and the drama series of the same name aired on Suria last year.
MS News offers our condolences to the family and friends of J.A Halim.
