A Japanese company is offering an intriguing job opportunity: writing personalised responses to messages from women, with a pay of up to S$19 per hour.
The job listing, posted earlier this month on a Japanese job search portal by entertainment company Ace, has since gone viral for its unique premise.
Successful applicants will be tasked with responding to messages sent by real women who play Ace’s romance-based otome game, Tokimeki Kareshi.
Otome games, popular among women, focus on building romantic relationships with charming virtual characters, who are mostly male.
Unlike traditional games that rely on pre-programmed dialogues, Tokimeki Kareshi offers players the freedom to send custom messages to the in-game characters.
Ace is looking to elevate the gaming experience by hiring real people to respond to these messages, providing a personalised and immersive interaction for its players.
The game, which celebrated its 8th anniversary in Sept, has been a hit among fans of the genre. To keep up with demand and ensure quality, Ace is urgently seeking around 10 individuals to fill the role.
According to the job listing, successful applicants will craft tailor-made messages to their customers while roleplaying as one of the characters from the game.
The job has no education requirement, and everyone is free to apply. However, applicants will have to be proficient at typing in Japanese.
Additionally, Ace will even make a job offer within 2 weeks of the application due to rapid urgency. In the listing, the company says they are experiencing rapid growth and are hiring to meet the increase in demand.
The starting wage is listed at ¥1,150 (S$10) per hour and will go up to ¥2,100 (S$19) per hour.
The job will also be fully remote.
To put a cherry on top, Ace also added that many of the management staff in the company started as employees who would respond to messages, opening up the possibility for career growth within the company.
There are four shifts available stretching all hours of the day. Each shift totals 8 hours with an hour break. Shifts will start at 6am, 3pm, 6pm, and 9pm.
The listing has gone viral on X, with one post receiving over 100,000 likes and many expressing interest in the job.
