Teen in Japan offers sex to fund male idol hobby

To raise funds and support her favourite male idol, a teen in Japan reportedly offered sex to about three men per day.

According to NHK, one of the men — a 53-year-old — was arrested for taking the teen girl to a nearby hotel where they had sex in exchange for money.

Girl waited in Kabukicho for customers

The girl reportedly told police she would wait in Okubo Park in Kabukicho about three times a week. She would get roughly three customers a day, which earned her about ¥700,000 (S$6,100).

She would then use the money to support her favourite underground male idols, she told police.

Underground male idols and host clubs often employ predatory tactics to exploit young women into purchasing expensive drinks to spend time with the men. The massive bill often forces women into illicit activities.

According to Sankei News, the teen started with sugar dating on X. However, she began looking for men in Kabukicho district after one of the men she spoke to suggested it to her.

Man denies knowing she was underage

The 53-year-old reportedly approached the teen on 15 Oct afternoon. After they met, he handed her ¥20,000 (S$174) in cash, and proceeded to a hotel in the area.

A nearby patrol spotted the pair coming out of the hotel a while later. Police subsequently confronted the pair, which led to the older man’s arrest.

Although he admitted to paying for sex, he said he had no idea she was underage.
