Johnson & Johnson Continues Baby Powder Sales In Rest Of World Except US & Canada

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) baby powder is probably found in most, if not all Singaporean homes. It’s such a household brand that you can probably smell it from a distance if someone uses it.

However, after news that J&J stopped selling talc-based baby powder in the United States and Canada, some were worried about how this would affect their sales here.

Luckily for those who rely on baby powder, J&J confirmed that sales won’t be affected in Singapore.

Johnson & Johnson stopped sales in North America

Earlier today (20 May), J&J announced that they’ll stop sales of talc-based baby powder in North America, including the United States and Canada.

They explained that demand for talc-based baby powder had declined due to consumer changes in habits, as well as “misinformation” over its harm.

There is information out there which states that an ingredient – asbestos – may be responsible for certain forms of cancer.

Due to this as well as “litigation advertising”, J&J decided to pull their talc-based baby powder products from the United States and Canada markets.

However, J&J maintain that talc-based baby powder is safe and the previous lawsuits brought against them have been overturned.

Singapore will still have Johnson’s baby powder

A J&J spokesperson told MS News that there is “significantly higher” demand for baby powder in other regions.

Therefore, they’ll continue to sell the baby powder in other countries, including Singapore, and that sales won’t be affected here.

So for those who swear by the product, rest assured that Johnson and Johnson’s baby powder will still be sold.
