Jurong East Could Be The Next MBS With Waterfront Views, Shopping & A New Science Centre From 2026

Jurong Lake District Will Have Waterfront Views & New Shopping Centres

For many Singaporeans, Jurong may just be a sleepy industrial estate in the West of Singapore.

However, with the expected completion of the Jurong Lake District (JLD) in 2026, residents can soon bid adios to the ulu status that has long plagued the estate.

Look forward to a slate of exciting developments such as picturesque waterfront views and exciting shopping centres that might just transform Jurong East into our next MBS.

Oh, and did we mention that there’s going to be a new Science Centre too?

Vibrant public spaces

Set to be a bustling district in the West, JLD will see a mixed-use development of offices, schools, galleries, and community spaces.

Around 20,000 new homes have also been planned for the district, along with parks and other leisure facilities.

And if pictures are anything to go by, you’ll be in awe of the housing estate that’s set to be ready by 2026.

Waterfront views & gardens

The JLD sits among lush greenery overlooking the Jurong Lake.

So if your idea of a perfect date involves being surrounded by nature, grab your partner for an al fresco dining experience by the Jurong Lake.

The length of the waterfront space will also be extended to a whopping 17km, allowing for more community activities by the waterfront.

Take in the waterfront views while strolling with your loved ones.

A well-connected district

JLD will also be a car-lite district, with more spaces reserved for pedestrians and cyclists.

With new buses and MRT lines servicing the area, those visiting can also do so using public transport with relative ease.

The terminus of the upcoming Singapore-Kuala Lumpur High-Speed Rail (HSR) will also be located in JLD, enabling you to travel to KL in just 90 mins.

Like most MRT stations, the HSR terminus will be easily accessible via an elevated pedestrian network called J-Walk.

Apart from linking you to the HSR terminus, this sheltered pedestrian network will also connect you directly with neighbouring hospitals and shopping centres.

Here’s a sneak peek of how well-connected JLD will be.

Exciting developments ahead

With more exciting developments to come, JLD might very well be the next ‘hub’ that everyone gathers at.

We’re excited to see how this will transform Jurong from an ulu estate into a bustling district, and potentially our next MBS.

Meanwhile, keep your eyes peeled for the latest updates on their Facebook page and their official website!
