Car knocks motorcyclist over in Kallang hit & run, driver arrested

Car involved in alleged hit-and-run accident in Kallang on 19 Nov

On Tuesday (19 Nov) morning, a car ran a red light and crashed into a motorcyclist before driving off.

The incident occurred at the intersection between Sims Avenue and Sims Way towards Kallang–Paya Lebar Expressway (KPE).

Dashcam footage showed the vehicles on Sims Way crossing the junction as the traffic light turned green.

Suddenly, a white car ran the red light and sped across Sims Avenue.

It narrowly missed two cars and a lorry but collided with a motorcycle.

The impact sent the motorcyclist tumbling violently off his motorbike and onto the road.

Other vehicles slowed down or stopped after the accident while the rider lay motionlessly on the road.

Moments later, a pedestrian in a white shirt rushed to check on the victim.

Motorcyclist taken to the hospital

While the pedestrian checked on the man, other cars drove past the victims.

The footage also showed the motorcyclist’s black shoes lying a distance away on the road, having been knocked off by the crash.

By this time, the victim managed to sit up while the pedestrian took out his phone, presumably to call for an ambulance.

Meanwhile, the silver car which collided with the motorcycle was nowhere to be seen.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told MS News that it was alerted to the accident at about 8.25am.

Paramedics conveyed one person to Raffles Hospital.

The police told MS News that they were notified of the hit-and-run at around 8.20am.

They confirmed that the SCDF conveyed a 58-year-old male motorcyclist to the hospital.

Police officers later arrested a 54-year-old female driver on 20 Nov for dangerous driving causing grievous hurt.

They are also investigating her for failing to stop after an accident and failing to render assistance to the injured.

Police investigations are ongoing.
