A car reversed into a group of pedestrians in River Valley after a failed U-turn, prompting one of the pedestrians to kick the vehicle’s rear bumper.
Footage of the incident was shared on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook group, sparking discussion on the driver’s behaviour.
According to the accompanying caption, the incident occurred at about 7.11am on Tuesday (5 Aug).
In the video, a white vehicle was seen attempting a U-turn at a traffic junction near River Valley Primary School.

Having failed to make a full U-turn onto the opposite side of the road, the driver proceeded to reverse the vehicle into the pedestrian crossing.
But as the car was reversing, several pedestrians — including a few children in school uniform — were also making their way across the road.

Sensing the danger, one of the pedestrians reached out his left leg and kicked the car’s rear bumper.

Later, after the car completed the U-turn, the pedestrian was seen having a brief conversation with the driver, causing a slight hold-up for the traffic behind.

Even though U-turns are permitted at the traffic junction, some netizens pointed out that the driver had committed a traffic offence by turning while the light was red.

In addition to the illegal U-turn, netizens criticised the driver for not “exercising due diligence” before reversing and putting pedestrians at risk.

Conversely, many users praised the pedestrian for kicking the car to alert the driver of his reckless reversing.
One netizen even claimed that the pedestrian’s immediate reaction was already “very kind”.
