Visit any shopping mall in Singapore and you’ll find stores like Cotton On, McDonald’s and Golden Village.
Like, where’s the variety right? No wonder Singaporeans resort to online shopping.
While you’re online adding items to your Zalora cart or planning your next meal on Foodpanda, we’ll tell you about a place you might want to physically visit.
If you haven’t heard of King Albert Park Residences Mall, listen up. It has hipster cafes, restaurants and an independent cinema opening soon.
Forget Haji Lane or The Projector. You can satisfy your bank-breaking hipster needs under one roof at this mall.
Picture this — you walk to a cinema in a mall, enter a theatre, and walk up or down the stairs to find your seat.
It’s in the middle, so you have to squeeze past people to get to it while whispering, “Sorry! Excuse me,” multiple times.
Not the best way to start a movie but it’s the reality in most cinemas, which have over 100 seats each.
EagleWings Cinematics which will open at King Albert Park Mall in early December will have significantly fewer seats. Here’s what you’ll find there:
Ticket prices are not out yet but the cinema will screen mainstream movies, so let’s hope prices can rival other cinemas around.
Hunting down hipster cafes can be an adventure itself but you’ll get tired of Google Mapping your way down dodgy alleys at some point.
Have your quirky, Instagrammable food served directly to you at one of the cafes and restaurants at King Albert Park Mall.
You can’t get more high SES than a restaurant spin-off of a yacht chartering company.
With a “casual yet sophisticated ambience” and VIP rooms available for booking, EagleWings Loft is fine dining at its finest.
There’s a more casual dining area if the grandeur in this room is making you anxious.
The restaurant claims to serve multiple cuisines, though the menu seems to point to mainly Asian and European dishes.
Get the best of both worlds with their lobster laksa, available from 5pm on Mondays and 11am the rest of the week.
You’ll be spoilt for choice with their expansive menu that offers desserts and even cocktails.

Kindred Folk sounds like a sleepy, cosy place for you to sit back and chill out alone or with a few friends.
And that’s exactly what it is. Spanning two storeys, this homely cafe’s aesthetics are on point and millennial-approved.
Industrial design chairs and wooden tables are mainstays of hipster cafes but Kindred Folk also has a hammock. You can rilek one corner if you’re too full to move.
When you’re there, definitely go for the waffles and specialty homemade ice cream.
Or have a generous scoop of ice cream sandwiched between a fried mantou. Now that’s something you can’t get anywhere else.
