A kitten in Thailand was recently rescued by a kind samaritan from a drain. However, its rescuers soon realised something was wrong when it struggled to even stand.
Facebook user Sujittra Tochamroen (name transliterated from Thai) shared in a post on Tuesday (12 Nov) that her brother had saved the kitten.
He discovered the animal after investigating the source of the cries that had persisted for two to three days.
A video attached to the post showed the kitten squirming on the ground as it attempted to move.
Ms Sujittra said that it also refused to eat but eventually accepted wet food.
She expressed a desire to take the kitten to a vet as it looked weak and could not walk properly. However, she mentioned a lack of funds.
Following the post, Ms Sujittra told Thai news outlet Bright TV that she received 1,500 baht (S$57) from a generous donor. This was enough to pay for the kitten’s much-needed vet visit.
An X-ray then revealed that the kitten had a broken spine, weakened limbs, and a nutrition deficiency.
The vet also warned her that the kitten could become paralysed for life without surgery.
Ms Sujittra wrote another post on Thursday (14 Nov) to request financial support for the surgery.
She said she would put the kitten up for adoption once it received the medical treatment.
