3 boys tilt Labubu claw machine in Yishun, steal S$300 worth of dolls

Boys in Yishun tilt Labubu claw machine to steal dolls inside

Three boys in Yishun committed the theft of several Labubu dolls from a claw machine.

Mr Derrick He, owner of the Little Pets Kingdom pet shop at Block 930 Yishun Central 1, told MS News that he bought and installed the Labubu claw machine outside of his shop 10 months ago.

He said the claw machine proved very popular recently, even helping to double sales.

However, this popularity seemingly led to the theft that occurred on the morning of 18 Nov.

He alleged to MS News that at 6.30am, three boys were seen playing the claw machine as intended, inserting some money into it to test out their luck.

However, they failed to win anything during their attempts.

CCTV footage shared with MS News showed two of the boys initially trying to tip the machine over at around 7am, before the shop opened.

One of them pushed it from one side while the other held it as it tilted over him.

However, they failed to tilt it enough and got their third friend to help. He showed up riding what appeared to be a Personal Mobility Aid (PMA).

After talking and walking around the claw machine for several minutes, the three of them then tried again at 7.04am.

Two held the sides of the machine while the third boy made sure it didn’t fall to the ground.

They tilted it to nearly 90 degrees, attempting to make the Labubu dolls drop into the hole for dispensing.

They returned the claw machine to an upright position and one of the boys then stuck his hand into the dispensing slot.

Afterwards, they appeared to prepare for another go at tilting the Labubu claw machine.

Mr He said the thieving incident carried on until 7.30am.

Mr He said he became aware of the incident after arriving at 9.30am and reported the theft to the police.

The shop owner claimed that up to five Labubu dolls had been stolen, along with some other soft toys.

He estimated a total loss of around S$300.

Photos provided by Mr He also showed one of the boys walking away with a handful of Labubu boxes and toys.

Mr He expressed concerns about future thefts, noting that the boys did not seem to care about the surveillance camera.

He added that this was the first time such an incident had happened and that he had not seen the boys before.

The police confirmed to MS News that a report had been lodged.

Investigations are currently ongoing.
