NS servicemen to receive S$200 LifeSG credits, including newly enlisted NSFs

In a joint press release on Wednesday (30 Oct), the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) confirmed that approximately 1.2 million eligible servicemen will receive these credits over the upcoming month.

Eligible recipients include:

  • Full-time national servicemen (NSFs), including those who enlist by 31 Dec 2024
  • Past and present operationally ready national servicemen (NSmen)

NSFs who enlist after 15 Sept will receive their credits in December.

Eligible servicemen will automatically receive the credits via the LifeSG mobile app.

There is no need to click on any links or provide personal details.

Once the credits have been disbursed, servicemen will receive an SMS and a notification letter at their registered address.

The credits are valid for one year from the date of disbursement and can be used at any merchants accepting payments via PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR.

Initiative expected to cost government S$240 million

This initiative was initially announced during the Budget 2024 speech by then-Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.

Mr Wong indicated that the payout is expected to cost the government approximately S$240 million.

A similar initiative was launched in 2022 to commemorate 55 years of National Service (NS55).
