The entire BBT world was shook when Lipton Japan announced their intention to bring ice cream milk bars featuring their iconic milk tea to life.
Especially since it seems near impossible to ensure that tapioca pearls remain chewy, even when they’re frozen.
So does Lipton Japan’s Bubble Tea Ice Cream live up to expectations? Well, according to netizens who’ve tried it first, the answer is a resounding yes.
In other news, Elsa definitely approves of this frozen treat.
Multiple Instagram reviews have already been posted via the hashtag #liptonteaice, and it looks like the ice cream bars are racking up points for their authentic taste.
As reported previously, Lipton TEA ICE has 2 different layers — a candy-like coating, and a creamy & smooth inner layer containing tapioca pearls.
Netizens have been quick to applaud the rich, iconic taste of Lipton’s milk tea.
Some have complimented the impossibly chewy texture of the pearls, and that the serving size is extremely satisfying.
Of course, it probably won’t replace your regular BBT runs, but is a cool alternative for post-dinner dessert.
With Singapore’s frequent humidity, we imagine that chomping down into a BBT popsicle will be the perfect remedy for a drearily hot day.
Sadly, they’re only exclusive to Japan at the moment, priced affordably at around S$1.80 (¥140).
While we endure the wait for the popsicles to reach our shores, we’ve reached out to Lipton Singapore to check if they’ll be bringing the treat over here too.
Before you join us in praying to the BBT gods that Lipton will be importing them to Singapore, do know that there are sweet alternatives available locally.
If a Japan trip isn’t on the cards soon, check out local retailer Happy Ice’s page to order a pack of Brown Sugar Boba Ice Cream Bars.
We’ve also reached out to Happy Ice to inquire if they’ll be bringing in Lipton’s BBT ice cream bars to Singapore, and will be updating this post shortly.
Let us know if you’ll be open to trying bubble tea ice cream, or if you prefer snacking on your pearls in a drink in the comments below.
