According to The Straits Times, the 2 workers killed in the accident had been working in Singapore for more than 20 years.

On the other hand, the 4 injured workers have been working for at least 10 years in Singapore.

Mr Yeo Guat Kwang, chairman of Centre for Domestic Employees (CDE) noted that the 2 deceased workers were counted seniors in the industry.

He also added that the 2 had been contributing greatly to families in Singapore. Hence, CDE will do their best in assisting their families.

Apart from that, we also learnt that all 6 domestic workers involved in the accident are close friends who frequently met during the weekends.

And of the 6 workers, 2 of them were sisters. Unfortunately, one of them was the one killed in the accident while the other sibling is critically injured, says CNA.

Daughter of deceased on the way to Singapore

Mr Yeo shared that the centre had contacted the family members and employers of the deceased.

However, the employer of one of the worker is overseas while the daughter of the other worker is currently on her way to Singapore.

Mr Yeo then added that the centre will be supporting the daughter’s travel financially.

Supposed to return to Philippines for New Year

It’s indeed extremely saddening to learn about this unexpected accident that took the lives of 2 innocent souls.

Furthermore, Chinese news site Shin Min Daily shared that the workers were supposed to return to the Philippines for the new year.

With that, MS News once again extends our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and may the injured workers get well soon.
