Owners of 15-inch MacBook Pros purchased from 2015 to 2017, take note.
On Thursday (20 Jun), Apple announced a recall for some of its 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops.
This is over concerns that batteries in the laptops may pose a safety hazard due to overheating.
Under their 15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall Program, Apple is offering a free battery replacement for affected laptops.
The laptops available for a battery replacement were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017.
You’ll need your laptop’s product serial number to check if it is eligible for the replacement.
To check your laptop’s model, click on the Apple menu at the upper-left corner of your screen and select “About This Mac”.
If your model is “MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), head to the program page here and key in your laptop’s serial number to check its eligibility.
Do note that this battery recall programme doesn’t lengthen the standard warranty coverage of your laptops.
For more information on the replacement process, visit Apple’s website here.
Stay safe with your devices, and do quickly replace your batteries if your laptop model is one of those affected.
