The wife of a 33-year-old Malaysian motorcyclist who died in an accident in Singapore is pleading for the return of her husband’s phone.
Her husband, Muhammad Isma Azwa, was riding a Vespa when he was fatally hit by a car that was turning into his lane on Tuesday (5 Nov) at Changi Beach, reports Berita Harian.
Originally from Kelantan, Mr Isma Azwa and his family moved to Johor Bahru two years ago to facilitate his daily commute to Singapore. The deceased held a ‘Hydrographic Surveyor’ position at Boskalis International.
A photo of the aftermath of the accident shows a red Vespa bike lying on the road. The deceased’s belongings, such as his bag and sandals, were also spotted at the site.
Mr Isma Azwa was subsequently rushed to Changi General Hospital (CGH) for treatment. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11.15am that day.
In response to queries from MS News, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that it was alerted to the accident at about 8am.
The accident occurred along Nicoll Drive, towards Changi Coast Road.
According to the deceased’s sister-in-law, Nurshahirah Nadiah, Mr Isma Azwa’s phone was missing from the accident site. The police, family members, and friends have tried to look for the device but to no avail.
The phone holds massive importance to the family as it was where the deceased reportedly left his will and details of the bank account he opened for his 8-month-old son, Yusuf.
“We beg you to return the phone to us as that’s the only memory we have left of him,” said his wife, Norshahirah Nabihah, to Sinar Harian.
“If you intend to sell it, sell it to us. We will not be mad, we just really need the phone,” added the deceased’s sister-in-law.
MS News has reached out to the police for comment.
