A 33-year-old Malaysian man was shot dead in Sungai Golok, Thailand, after a long-standing dispute with a friend over an unpaid clothing debt.
Thai police identified the victim as Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali from Pasir Mas, who was killed at his home in Sungai Golok on Saturday (1 Nov).
According to Malaysia’s The New Straits Times (NST), investigations revealed that the incident stemmed from unpaid transactions involving clothing purchases, not drugs as initially rumoured.

The suspect, a 31-year-old Thai man, allegedly shot the victim multiple times after repeated quarrels over the debt.
A Narathiwat police commander said the dispute had been ongoing since last year.
Friends and relatives had previously intervened to resolve it, but tensions flared again earlier this month.
After the shooting, the suspect surrendered to Thai authorities on Sunday (2 Nov).
During interrogation, he admitted to killing Mohd Fuad following another argument about the unpaid money.

Police seized two pistols believed to have been used in the shooting. The suspect is now being detained at Narathiwat Prison pending further investigation.
Authorities have clarified that the crime was not linked to drugs, as some reports initially suggested.
Narathiwat police stated that evidence and witness accounts confirmed the case revolved around financial disagreements, not narcotics.
“Based on our findings, this was purely a personal dispute over unpaid clothing transactions,” authorities said.
