A man in Singapore is accused of beating his female companion after she refused to give him money.
The incident occurred on Monday (14 Oct) in front of a shop along Balestier Road.
According to Shin Min Daily News, a disturbance was heard near a repair shop at about 1pm.
The 61-year-old shop owner, Ms Bai (surname transliterated from Chinese), recalled seeing several police officers at the scene following the commotion.
Afterwards, a passerby informed her that the man had asked his female companion for money, but when she declined, he became angry and laid hands on her.
A clerk at a nearby remittance shop said the woman covered her face and cried after being struck.
However, she claimed she couldn’t clearly see what was happening from the shop.
In response to MS News‘ queries, the police confirmed that they were alerted to the case at about 1.05pm.
A 32-year-old man is currently assisting the police with their investigations for voluntarily causing hurt.
Police investigations are ongoing.
