A man in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, threw a bomb into his brother-in-law’s house on the second day of Chinese New Year (18 Feb).
10 people were injured and rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
It is suspected that an improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated in the living room of Mr Lê Thế Hưng in the Bac Hai residential area at around 6.45pm.

The family was celebrating Tết, a Lunar New Year festival in Vietnam, when the explosion occurred.
Of the 10 injured, one is a pregnant woman who is the homeowner’s daughter-in-law.
The victims were immediately transported to Hop Luc International General Hospital for treatment.

Four of them suffered severe injuries and underwent surgery to remove shrapnel.
Currently, none are in life-threatening condition, VTC News reported.
Following the incident, Major General To Anh Dung, Director of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police and Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuấn, Deputy Director and Head of the Police Investigation Agency, arrived at the scene to secure the area and start the investigation.
They soon identified Kiều Văn Thanh, the victim’s brother-in-law, as the primary suspect.
However, he was later found dead, having committed suicide by hanging near the Anh Phát petroleum storage area.

Specialised units are currently working to clarify the sequence of events and the motive of the crime.
After overseeing the investigation, Major General To Anh Dung, along with local government representatives, visited Hop Luc International General Hospital to comfort the victims.
He requested that the medical team dedicate the highest level of resources, personnel, and equipment to ensure the victims’ recovery.
