65-year-old crushed to death while retrieving spare tyre from car on highway

On Monday (18 Nov), a 65-year-old man in Malaysia was crushed to death by a pickup truck while retrieving a spare tyre from his car on the Kemuning-Shah Alam Highway (LKSA).

According to Shah Alam district police, the elderly man had stopped his car by the roadside at 12.30pm after one of his tyres punctured.

The truck, which was following behind, stopped to assist the man.

While the victim was retrieving some items from his car, a shuttle bus collided with the off-road truck parked behind the victim’s car on the left side of the road, causing the truck to lurch forward and hit him, reported Free Malaysia Today.

Man suffered severe injuries

According to Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim’s statement on Monday, the victim suffered severe injuries to his body and was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The victim was on his way home to Taman Sri Muda, Section 25, after going to Kuala Lumpur Hospital,” he said.

Asst Comm Mohd is seeking more information regarding the accident from witnesses.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving, as reported by Bernama.
