A 46-year-old man has reportedly passed away after falling to his death at a condominium in East Coast.
Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, eyewitnesses claimed he fell into a tree and succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Police are currently investigating the tragedy, with preliminary findings ruling out foul play.
Shin Min Daily News reports that the incident occurred on Monday (29 Jan) at around 4.50pm at the Neptune Court condominium in Marine Parade.
A reader shared with the Chinese daily that authorities found the body of a resident at the foot of Tower 2 of the condominium. He was suspected to have fallen to his death.
Another resident said that she was home at the time of the incident. Upon hearing a loud noise, she looked out of the window but did not find anything amiss.
“When I looked closer, I discovered that there was a foot sticking out from a tree downstairs,” she said.
“It turned out that there was a person hanging on the tree.”
Other eyewitnesses said they saw a woman rush to the scene shortly after the man fell.
She was crying as she stood under the tree. She also attempted to save him.
“The woman’s face was covered in blood, but she couldn’t reach the person stuck in the tree,” they said.
Residents who knew the couple said they moved in about a year ago and would rarely interact with their neighbours.
Responding to queries by Shin Min Daily News, police confirmed that the incident occurred.
They said that paramedics pronounced the man dead on the spot, with preliminary findings ruling out foul play.
Authorities also sent his 55-year-old wife to the hospital in a conscious state.
An investigation into the tragedy is ongoing.
