A man in Henan, China has died following complications from swallowing a 5cm-long fish bone.
The 29-year-old deceased, identified by the pseudonym Zhang Qiang, tried to remedy his situation by drinking vinegar to soften the bone and swallowing rice to push it down.
The following day, however, he experienced difficulty swallowing and vomited blood.
According to 8world News, Zhang was rushed to the hospital where he passed away.

Upon examination, doctors discovered that the fish bone had pierced Zhang’s esophagus and thoracic aorta — a part of the largest artery in the body that carries oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the rest of the body.
This injury caused excessive bleeding, which resulted in his death.
While it is unclear when the incident occurred, the news reportedly became a hot topic of discussion online on 12 May.
Dr Li Peng, the deputy director of the Department of Head and Neck Thyroid Surgery at Henan Cancer Hospital, urges the public against following the home remedy.
He noted that drinking vinegar will only cause more damage to the throat and mucous membrane.
Meanwhile, swallowing rice will cause the fish bone to travel deeper into the throat.
The right way is to try and cough the bone out. If it is visible, it can be removed with tweezers.
However, if the condition does not improve after the above methods, people are strongly encouraged to seek medical attention immediately.
