“Till death do us part” is a promise partners make on their weddings as they vow never to leave each other till they meet their makers.
On man’s actions, however, seemed to redefine this, as he kept his wife ‘company’ on her birthday, their wedding anniversary, and Valentine’s Day, even after his passing.
On Wednesday (10 Jun), his daughter, Alyssa Mendoza recounted the touching story in a Facebook post.
You can read the post in full here, we also break it down for you in the sections below.
In the post, Alyssa recalled receiving a scheduled email from her dad, who passed away 10 months ago from kidney disease.
Being the only person still awake in the household at 3am, Alyssa was “scared” when she first saw the message, and only opened it 2 days after.
But her fears disappeared as soon as she opened it. In the email were extremely detailed instructions by her late-father on how to celebrate the special occasions with his wife.
Mr Mendoza had also arranged flower deliveries for his wife on her birthday, Valentine’s Day, and their wedding anniversary.
On Tuesday (9 Jun), Alyssa helped to pull off what would have been her parents’ 25th wedding anniversary.
Though her father was no longer around, the surprise party was nonetheless special, with family photos suspended using balloons, and Pachelbel’s Canon playing in the background.
In one video, Alyssa’s mother was brought to tears as she inspects the decorations with a bouquet in hand.
Alyssa also prepared a spread comprising marinated meat and sashimi to mark the special occasion.
In an interview with Bored Panda, Alyssa said she also showed her mum a letter that her late-father had penned – included in the email – which “made her more emotional”.
Alyssa’s mother had apparently been dreading the anniversary as it was the first without the company of her husband.
However, she felt much better after reading the letter, as it was “everything she needed to hear” from her husband.
Alyssa also said that her father had a habit of surprising his wife when he was still alive, even on regular days, so this clearly wasn’t his first rodeo.
The detailed planning that Alyssa’s father went through goes to show just how much he loved his wife.
While he may not be around anymore, his determination to be with his wife is indeed touching.
We hope Alyssa’s story gave you hope during these uncertain times.
This loving husband’s unwavering love for his wife shows us that love has the ability to triumph over all things — even death.
