In what must have been an alarming sight, a man was spotted sitting in the middle of Jalan Buroh in Singapore.
The short video shared on Sunday (27 Oct) by Sgfollowall on Instagram shows the man, clad in a T-shirt, shorts and slippers, sitting in a crouched position with his head between his knees.
Recorded from a bus, the clip captures a passing vehicle honking at him, but he remains unresponsive, continuing to sit in the third lane from the right.
The road appeared largely clear, but he would have been at risk of being hit if a driver hadn’t noticed him.
According to the post, the footage was taken around 6pm that day along Jalan Buroh, a major road connecting West Coast Highway and Pioneer Road.
Netizens who saw the clip had sympathy for the man.
Many expressed concern, with some suggesting that the man might be experiencing mental health issues.
Some highlighted the danger his actions posed to other road users, especially if vehicles had to brake suddenly.
Others questioned if anyone had attempted to move him off the road.
According to 8world News, a witness lodged a police report.
However, the broadcaster understands that the man was reportedly no longer there by the time officers arrived.
He was believed to have left.
Here are some helplines available for those struggling with mental health issues.
