A man had reportedly tried to commit suicide by lying on a highway amid heavy traffic in Malaysia, causing a driver to panic and swerve to avoid hitting him.
The incident was captured in a dashcam video shared on a Facebook group on 24 Oct.
The footage shows a vehicle driving on the leftmost lane of a highway when the man standing at the roadside suddenly lies flat on the road as the car approaches.
In response, the driver quickly swerves to the right to avoid crashing into the person, honking in panic.
“First time experiencing a suicide attempt today,” the post said.
According to the OP’s caption. the incident happened on The New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) towards the Duta–Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) in Kuala Lumpur.
The man’s behaviour led to criticism due to the potential danger for other motorists on the highway.
One netizen commented that the man’s intention to commit suicide was an inconvenience to others.
Another Facebook user opined that the man’s actions were likely not a suicide attempt but a planned scam.
Another commenter claimed that the guy was later hit by another car. The netizen said they had passed the same spot and almost hit the man. However, this claim has yet to be verified as true.
It is unknown whether authorities came to mediate the situation.
