In July 2023, a 29-year-old man named Mark brutally stabbed his girlfriend, Michelle, at their shared rental house in Taoyuan City, Taiwan.
Both thecassailant and victim were migrant workers from the Philippines and had been dating for two years.
However, Mark suspected that Michelle was in love with someone else, and the two were having a heated argument when he strangled her until she was unconscious.
He then stabbed her 13 times.
After stabbing her to death, Mark dragged the body into the bathroom, cut open her stomach, and flushed some of her internal organs down the toilet.
Her right leg and foot were also severed, according to Focus Taiwan.
The assailant cleaned the crime scene with bleach and threw Michelle’s bloodied clothes and the remaining evidence in rubbish bags.
He also stole her ATM card and dismantled her mobile phones.
When she failed to show up for work the next day, Michelle’s employer checked her rental flat where he discovered the dismembered body.
Within five hours of the gruesome discovery, the police arrested Mark and charged him with domestic violence and homicide.
They also found with him Michelle’s ATM card and seized the items used in the murder.
On Tuesday (19 Nov), more than a year after the brutal incident, Mark was sentenced to life imprisonment for committing murder.
