The ‘Circuit Breaker’ has been difficult for all of us to adjust to, but it’s definitely taken a bigger toll on some than others.
A video circulating online showed a man throwing multiple pieces of furniture and other objects down from the top floor of a HDB block on Thursday morning (16 Apr).
The man was clearly distraught, and was seen throwing his hands up repeatedly. He was later arrested by the police.
The incident took place at Block 102 Yishun Avenue 5, near Chong Pang Market, around 7am on Thursday (16 Apr) morning.
The 49-year-old man had thrown down plastic chairs, pots, recliners and other objects from the corridor of the HDB.
In the video, a man and a woman seemed to be advising others to keep back, so as to avoid being hit by the falling objects.
Another man cordoned off the area as well, to prevent people from entering it and getting hit.
At many points in the video, the man appeared emotionally distraught.
He was seen putting his head down on the hand railing in between throwing debris from the building, and looked like he could be crying too.
In other instances, he seemed exasperated. He was seen raking his hands through his hair, visibly frustrated.
According to a source claiming to be the man’s acquaintance, he recently lost his job. That could be the reason why he acted out.
The reason for the man’s outburst isn’t confirmed, but it’s quite clear that he was having some sort of emotional breakdown.
We deeply sympathise with him, and hope he’s provided the necessary means to get by this period.
