Marina Bay Carnival Will Be Open Till 2am On 31 Dec For NYE Countdown

Marina Bay Carnival 2018 Open Till 2am On New Year’s Eve

Prudential’s Marina Bay Carnival is back! There are more than 50 rides and games this year, with 4 new rides from Europe, including the Wave Swinger from Italy, making its debut in Southeast Asia.

Plus, while the usual opening hours are from 4PM to 11PM daily till 24 March 2019, the Carnival will be open till 2AM on 31 December, perfect for a fairytale countdown with bae.

We’ve reviewed all 4 spanking new rides at the carnival, so you can decide whether it’s worth spending the tokens on them.

1. Wave Swinger

The first ride that will welcome you upon entry to the carnival, the Wave Swinger. As its name suggests, the Wave Swinger’s a gigantic ride that swings you up and down in a wave-like motion.

If you miss the Spinner ride at Genting Highlands, this will bring back some memories.

Pro-Tip: Start off the day with this ride to get your adrenaline pumping.
Chiong Factor: 6/10

2. Jumper Jumper

The Hip Hop-themed Jumper Jumper is a low-key roller coaster without the tracks for a ride filled with satisfying bass drops.

“When I say jump you say how high” blasted over the PA system repeatedly via a live host with a booming voice.

We loved that every spin is timed perfectly in sync with the beat of the Hip-Hop music playing. Think of it as attending the Ultra Music Festival complete with a bespoke light show in the comfort of your spinning chair.

As this ride isn’t that high, it’s suitable even for those with fear of heights.

Pro-Tip: Do not attempt on a full stomach.
Chiong Factor: 7.5/10

3. Spring Break

The Spring Break is Viking 2.0 — you’ll not only rock back and forth but also have to survive rotating 360° while suspended in mid-air.

The ride is defo value for your money, especially if you’re an adrenaline junkie. You’ll not only feel the kick of blood-pumping adrenaline but also get to enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Marina Bay nightscape.

Pro-Tip: A must try for the carnival.
Chiong Factor: 9.5/10

4. ‘Remix’ Extreme

Other than the 3 new kids on the block, ‘Remix’ Extreme is said to be ready shortly. For now, you can have a short preview of what it’s like in this video here.

We weren’t able to review the ride at the media preview, but do take note of the entrance as you stroll past. Singaporeans know that’s an accurate way of assessing how good the ride is — low-key checking out the length of the queues.

5. Star Flyer

If you missed the rides from last year’s carnival, you’ll be happy to know that Mach 5, Das Fun Schiff and The Star Flyer will still be around this year.

Featuring chairs that swing from a height of almost 10 storeys, the Star Flyer is definitely not for the faint of heart.

But for all you brave souls, just try to enjoy the 360˚ panoramic view of the Singapore skyline while twirling 30 metres up.

Pro-Tip: Must-ride for first-timers at the funfair. For carnival laojiaos, skip ahead to the new attractions.
Chiong Factor: 7/10

6. Das Fun Schiff

Das Fun Schiff looks like some German pirates decided to invade our favourite swinging pirate ship ride.

There’s no better way to warm up yourself for the scariest rides without some good ol’ viking ship to pump up some adrenaline.

Culturally confusing, but probably fun anyway.

Pro-Tip: Probably great as a starter ride, but not worth a second go.
Chiong Factor: 6.5/10

7. Mach 5

Mach 5 is definitely the star attraction at the carnival, hands down. The queues for this ride alone – and high price point of $13/pax – is a testament to how crazy the experience is.

We do not, however, recommend this ride to people with acrophobia —  this is as extreme as it gets. For those who are willing to shell out the tokens though, it is extremely worth your money.

Pro-Tip: Perfect for thrillseekers. Avoid with extreme caution for those that love to have 2 feet planted firmly on the ground.
Chiong Factor: 9/10

Satisfy those hunger pangs

We know that after you’re done with the rides, you will be looking for something to satisfy your hunger pangs.

Burgers from BURGNERDS

Zhng-ed Indomie from SingaIndo

Price starts from $3 to $12 from various vendors.

Get 10% bonus credits for pre-orders

While the entry to the carnival is free, you would need tokens for rides and games.

Based on experience, the queue for the token will be considerably long, so we recommend getting tokens from their website to save some time on the day of visit.

Plus, you’ll get to skip the queues and gain 10% extra credits!

How to get there

Plan ahead to beat the crowd

The carnival has kicked off and will be open till 24 Mar 2019. Daily operating hours will be from 4pm-11pm daily.

On New Year’s Eve however, it will be open till 2am.

It is the perfect place to catch some fireworks action on New Year’s Eve.

With the festive season approaching, you may want to strategise a foolproof carnival plan if you want to avoid the crazy crowd.
