On Wednesday (6 Nov), a fire involving electrical wiring broke out on the second floor of Marina Square.
150 people were evacuated as a result of the fire. One person was also conveyed to the hospital.
Videos of smoke engulfing the mall have been circulating on social media. People were seen heading towards the exits as their surroundings became increasingly smoky.
One video shared on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu showed the mall engulfed in smoke.
In response to MS News‘ queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that they were alerted to the fire at about 12.25pm.
It involved electrical wiring on the second floor. The fire was then extinguished by the company emergency response team using fire extinguishers.
“About 150 persons were evacuated from the premises,” an SCDF spokesperson said. One person was also conveyed to Raffles Hospital.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
