On Wednesday (12 Feb), Singapore bank DBS evacuated 300 staff from their office at the Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC).
This comes after an employee tested positive for the new coronavirus — now officially named Covid-19.
According to The Straits Times, the evacuated employees worked on the 43rd storey of MBFC Tower 3 — the same floor as the confirmed case.
The affected workers were instructed to work from home for the time being as a precautionary measure.
Office premises like lift lobbies and toilets have also undergone deep cleaning, reports The Straits Times.
Contact tracing is currently being carried out to inform those who came into contact with the infected employee.
A confirmed case was earlier detected on Sunday (9 Feb) at MBFC Tower 1.
A DBS spokesperson told MS News that the bank was informed of the results on Wednesday (12 Feb) morning
From next week, all DBS employees will also receive personal hygiene and protection care pack comprising masks, a thermometer, hand sanitiser and vitamin C.
In light of the DORSCON level being changed to orange, DBS has also carried out temperature screening at its office buildings.
Visitors are also required to fill up a travel history declaration form before entering their premises.
The prompt action DBS took is not only necessary but also important.
Singapore has drawn praise for their handling of Covid-19 so far, and it’s good to see DBS also handling the situation with calm.
Hopefully the steps taken will limit the spread of Covid-19.
