On Sunday (10 Nov) evening, a room on the 12th floor of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) hotel caught fire.
Footage of the raging blaze has since circulated online.
The orange flames were seen engulfing one particular low-level room in the skyscraper.
Despite many commenters wondering how the guests of the floor managed to start the blaze, it was later revealed that the room was unoccupied and undergoing renovation.
In response to MS News‘ queries, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that they were alerted to the fire at about 9.25pm.
The fire occurred on the balcony of a 12th-floor unit that was going through renovation work. It was promptly extinguished by the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) using two hose reels prior to SCDF’s arrival.
Speaking to 8world, an MBS spokesperson confirmed that the room was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The affected room was located at Tower 3 of MBS.
Additionally, the spokesperson shared that no one was injured as a result of the flames.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
