On Monday (24 June), footage emerged of a Mercedes Benz driving against the flow of traffic at the junction of Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 and 9.
The video, which was posted on the SG Road Vigilante – SGRV Facebook page, also shows the vehicle caught between two lanes.
As a result, a motorcyclist and the driver recording the footage had to manoeuvre around the Mercedes to avoid a collision.
According to the caption, this took place at around 1.36pm.
The incident sparked significant online discussion, with many netizens criticising the Mercedes driver’s actions and calling for an investigation by traffic authorities.
Some even suggested that they may have driven there on purpose as a shortcut to get to their destination.
However, others highlighted that the area can be confusing to navigate.
They expressed sympathy for the driver, noting frequent congestion and ongoing construction in the vicinity.
These factors can often make driving challenging, potentially leading to navigation errors and lane confusion.
Another user pointed out that ongoing road works further complicate the situation, cautioning that drivers who aren’t careful might inadvertently find themselves in the wrong lane.
