MOH Investigates Covid-19 Case Who Met Large Group Of People For Sports & Social Activities

Covid-19 Patient Who Met Large Group Of People Is Among New Community Cases On 26 Jun

Phase 2 of Singapore’s reopening doesn’t mean that life goes on as normal. Social distancing and mingling with groups of less than 5 are rules we need to follow still.

However, a man had reportedly met a large group of people for sports and social activities during this time.

Shockingly, he was one of the 6 community cases confirmed yesterday (26 Jun).

MOH probing Covid-19 case who met large group of people

According to the Ministry of Health (MOH), the man’s behaviour increases transmission risk and as a result, all of his contacts are now under quarantined.

They will be investigating the case.

In the meantime, they continue to emphasise that everyone should limit their social gatherings to not more than 5 people.

In The Straits Times’ report, MOH declined to reveal which of the 6 community cases the person in question was.

5 of 6 community cases are Singaporeans

Of the 5 Singaporean cases announced yesterday, MOH highlighted 2 who were working in public healthcare sector.

Case 42940 is a 23 year-old male who has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions.

He tested positive on 25 Jun and is currently warded at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH), where he works as a nurse. He had not gone to work since onset of symptoms.

Case 42987 is a 27 year-old female Singaporean who also has no recent travel history to affected countries or regions.

She tested positive on 25 Jun, and is currently warded at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID).

She is asymptomatic. Prior to hospital admission, she had gone to work at Vanguard Senior Care Centre in Woodlands.

As for the sole non-community case, they picked up the work pass holder – Case 42955 – after he was identified as a contact of previous cases and swabbed.

Abide by social distancing rules in Phase 2

This latest development is extremely concerning, as it shows that more people may be at risk of getting infected with Covid-19.

Do try to stay at home as much as possible still. And if you do go out, remember to take the necessary safety measures, and limit the number of people you’ll be meeting with.

It is only when everybody does their part in taking precaution, only can Singapore successfully contain the outbreak before a vaccine is available.
