The 2024 US presidential election is happening today, at 5 Nov local time, with many around the world closely following the results.
As people worldwide share their predictions, the superstar hippo Moo Deng in Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi has also embraced her role as a prophet.
On Monday (4 Oct), Khao Kheow Open Zoo’s Facebook, ขาหมู แอนด์เดอะแก๊ง, made a post about Moo Deng’s prediction for the 2024 US Election.
“In 48 hours, we will know who will become the new president of the United States of America (US),” wrote the zoo.
It jokingly added:
I (Moo Deng) thank everyone for voting me (as president); however, I have been busy with events and over 70 product presentations, so I have to give it a pass.
This was inspired by an unofficial online poll conducted by Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show, in which Moo Deng won 93% of the votes, according to Thai local media Thai PBS.
The Facebook post featured a series of photos showing Moo Deng alongside two fruit cakes, each engraved with a candidate’s name. Both cakes were made from sliced pumpkins, decorated with pieces of dragon fruit and flowers.
Both cakes were spaced apart on the ground within Moo Deng’s enclosure.
In the last picture, Moo Deng is seen heading towards the fruit cake with Donald Trump’s name on it.
The zoo confirmed in the post that Moo Deng had picked Trump as the winner, predicting a comeback victory for the Republican.
After the post, several netizens flocked to tease the viral baby hippo for her prediction.
One netizen humorously commented that she expected to see Moo Deng as president behind the podium.
Another Facebook user playfully teased that Moo Deng forwent her opportunity because she was unable to finish a guidebook on how to be a president in time.
One man requested for Moo Deng lottery draw prophecies every month if her US Election prediction came true.
