Mount Dukono — a volcano located in North Maluku province, Indonesia — erupted on Tuesday (26 Nov), sending a thick plume of ash up to 4,600m into the sky.
The eruption occurred at about 9.43am local time and triggered aviation warnings.
Following the eruption, planes were prohibited from flying at altitudes below 5KM near the volcano.
The authorities have set out a 3km radius around the crater where climbing and other activities are not allowed.
Residents are also encouraged to wear face masks and goggles to minimise exposure to volcanic ash.
