Sudden closures can leave customers with more questions than answers, especially if stores disappear without a trace.
That’s what happened to a local nail salon franchise, Nails Mama.
After Nails Mama closed their Kovan Heartland Mall outlet in August, a disgruntled customer claimed that she could not retrieve the remaining credits in her package even after numerous attempts to contact the store.
Google reviews also show that numerous other customers face the same predicament after the nail salon essentially ghosted them.
Speaking to MS News, the customer, who had patronised Nails Mama for several years, said the franchise has two outlets — one in Kovan Heartland Mall and the other at Serangoon North Avenue 1.
Having patronised the Kovan outlet often, she bought a nails package from them, which, as of 20 Aug, had an outstanding amount of S$342.20 still unused.
Earlier in March, she first noticed that it was considerably more challenging to book an appointment with the nail salon.
Fast forward to early August, she received a WhatsApp message from the nail salon informing her of their impending closure on 28 Aug.
They shared that they could not continue their lease at Kovan Heartland Mall.
However, customers can still use their credits at the Serangoon outlet.
Hearing this, the lady tried to contact Nails Mama through various channels but to no avail.
Every call to their contact numbers was silent, and the salon’s Facebook page even disappeared just days after the lady contacted them there.
Sensing something amiss, she suspected the nail salon may have closed for good and had a look at their Google reviews.
To her shock, she found that other disgruntled customers also left scathing reviews, sharing similar experiences.
As she wanted to confirm her suspicions, the lady headed down to the Serangoon North outlet on 20 Aug and found that it was indeed closed for good.
Now left with no leads, she hopes that other customers are aware that their credits are basically unusable now.
Several customers who’ve recently left unhappy Google reviews claimed that they have since filed police reports.
