OCBC Closing 22 Branches Till 4 May, No Change In Operating Hours For Remaining 24 Outlets

On Friday (3 Mar), the Singapore government introduced a suite of tightened social-distancing measures to combat the increasing number of local Covid-19 cases.

Due to the expected significantly less footfall, OCBC said in a media release that they will be temporarily closing 22 branches across Singapore from 9 Apr-4 May.

As such, 24 branches will still offer all banking services. These include 19 outlets offering Sunday Banking Services. There will also be no change in banking hours.

In the meantime, all 5 branches with safe deposit boxes will remain open so customers can access personal items and documents kept in them. These are:

  • Ang Mo Kio branch
  • Bedok North branch
  • Centre branch
  • Sixth Avenue branch
  • Thomson branch

Customers can use the branch locator on OCBC’s website to find the closest available outlet.

ATMs still in operation

All 1,200 ATMs, including those that provide instant encashment, will remain fully operational for customers who require cash on hand.

OCBC also confirmed that sufficient cash will be made available in all ATMs and the remaining open branches.

The bank also seeks customers’ understanding and apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Social distancing applies at all OCBC branches

OCBC branches that remain open will require customers to remain at least 1-metre apart from each other. To prevent overcrowding, there is also a limit on the maximum number of persons in each branch.

Priority will be given to “vulnerable customers”, such as the elderly or pregnant women.

Additional measures also include temperature screening and health declaration forms. Customers displaying Covid-19 symptoms, or have travel history to countries with restriction orders will not be allowed to enter the premises.

Try not to head out unless absolutely necessary

While financial matters are important, do keep in mind that safety is even more crucial. Please stay home and refrain from going out unless absolutely necessary.

If a trip to the bank is essential, do remember to wear a mask and practise safe distancing at all times.
